			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Its the little things that you will need to notice and congratulate yourself on when beginning the recovery process of Binge Eating Disorder.  These little things will be the stepping stones to gaining full control over yourself when food is involved.  These tiny stepping stones will prove to you that you are in control, at least somewhat control, of your actions.  Its time for you to rejoice in them, instead of beating yourself up about why you arent fully recovered yet.</p>
<p>Are you someone that binges twice a day for about five days out of the week?  What are your trigger foods that you binge on?  Lets say that an example day of binging for you includes three bags of chips, one whole cake, one gallon of ice cream, ten cookies, and three sugary, carbonated drinks.  When you start to take notice of you eating less, you need to pat yourself on the back.  Instead of three bags of chips, do you only consume one?  If so, this is a building block for your road to success.  Instead of ten cookies, do you only eat two?  Again, time to congratulate yourself for this accomplishment.</p>
<p>The reason why this is so important for your recovery is because most people see their life as black or white.  Their life is either good or bad, right or wrong, sad or happy.  Who puts these stipulations on us?  Why such extremes?  When you rid yourself of these chains and start living your life in most of the gray area, you will take things as they come and not be so hard on yourself for failing.  Extremes will lead you to failure because it will be highly impossible that you will be able to live that way.  </p>
<p>When you can learn to accept yourself, including all of your flaws, this is when you move into the gray area of life.  The gray area allows for mistakes and is a constant learning experience.  The gray area also allows falling, but pushes you to get right back up.  The gray area is where we all need to be living; but sadly, it is not most of our realities.</p>
<p>We put insurmountable pressure on ourselves to be perfect.  We want the perfect car, the perfect outfit, the perfect body.  Society helps to fill our head with the perfect mentality.  Anything short of that will not do.  We are taught that perfectionism is the only way and that we should all constantly be striving for it.</p>
<p>Strive to get out of that mindset.  You will only be setting yourself up for failure.  Its the harsh reality of it.  Learn to live and prosper in the gray area.  Congratulate yourself for the small things that you overcome throughout your day.  Its when you are at the point of seeing your obstacles being taken over by you that you will be creating your own path for recovery of Binge Eating Disorder.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Are you feeling tired, stressed, or apathetic? Did you know these are all common signs of a diet lacking nutritional value? If you are dieting, ill, or eating a fast-food diet, you should you be concerned that you and your family are getting proper nutrition from your food.</p>
<p>- How can you know that you are getting enough nutrition?</p>
<p>If you find that a day goes by and the only thing you&#8217;ve had to eat is a bagel and coffee or maybe some fast-food you will no doubt be feeling the physical effects of a lack of nutrition. Lack of mental clarity, weakness and irritability are all signs you haven&#8217;t given your body enough good food to eat.</p>
<p>On the other hand, if you or your children indulge in high calorie diets on a regular basis you will notice the effects of over nutrition. Weight gain and related symptoms will also zap your energy and put a strain on your body.</p>
<p>- Under and over nutrition. Finding balance.</p>
<p>Your diet is a crucial element to feeling good, strong and alert. If you&#8217;ve been suffering from a diet lacking in nutrition, or an over indulgence in nutrition, you&#8217;ll certainly be feeling the effects on your overall health &#8211; and even worse &#8211; you may be setting yourself up for more serious disease.</p>
<p>You obviously need calories for energy. It is vital to obtain the necessary amount of calories every day to maintain your optimum health. Individuals who do not take in the proper amount of calories because of ill health, physical disability, dieting or problems with absorption, usually begin to loose weight, lack concentration and as time passes they begin to loose the function of organs such as the reproductive system and eventually major functions of the heart and lungs.</p>
<p>A diet too high in calories will also put your health at risk. More common than under nutrition in developed countries like the United States, obesity puts a strain on the organs and increases the risk for health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and even cancer.</p>
<p>Knowing what a typical serving size of food is can help you determine if you or a family member are taking in the appropriate amount of calories. It is important for parents to teach children moderate eating habits to ensure good eating for life. I cannot stress this point enough!</p>
<p>- How nutritious is your food?</p>
<p>Aside from merely watching caloric intake it is important that your diet has strong nutritional value as well. You could eat an entire box of doughnuts to meet your calorie needs without having met your daily requirements for vitamins, protein, calcium and other minerals.</p>
<p>Choosing a diet that lacks nutrition on a regular basis will lead to a lowered resistance to illness, general weakness, and irritability. Other diet deficiencies, such as a lack of calcium, can lead to more serious disorders like osteoporosis.</p>
<p>While pregnant andor lactating women, the elderly and ill individuals may have no choice but to to supplement their diet with multi vitamins, the average healthy person should attempt to get most of the nutrition they need in a normal diet that includes fruit, vegetables, protein meat and lentils, dairy and fibre bread and cereals.</p>
<p>- So what about the occasional burger?</p>
<p>Fast-food in the diet is not harmful if it is only an occasional treat, but may show its negative effects if consumed as a major part of the diet. Educating yourself and your family on what a healthy diet is will help you and your family feel great and enjoy good health for years to come.</p>

One minute we are told that low carb, high fat, high protein diets are best, while the next we hear that high carbohydrate, low fat diets are the ticket to weight loss. However, there is no real secret diet that will work for everyone, and it is important to pick a diet that works well with your likes and lifestyle. In this article we will review a fad diet that was presented to consumers a couple of years back; the popcorn diet.</p>
<p>By now, everyone should know that fad diets fail to work because they are short term, unrealistic, and usually starvation diets that encourage our bodies to pack on the fat after we go off of them. There are some good aspects of the popcorn diet though, which includes snacking all day on air-popped popping corn. Popcorn is very high in dietary fiber which is key for losing weight because of its ability to make out stomachs feel fuller for longer without the added calories. Fiber is also essential in maintaining regular bowel health, preventing heart disease and certain cancers. Popcorn is also extremely low in calories which makes it a great food to snack on if you get the munchies.</p>
<p>On the down side however, most people dont really like the taste of plain popcorn because it is really dry and bland. So instead of having a healthy low calorie snack, they load it up with butter and salt which makes it extremely high in sodium and in many cases, higher in fat than potato chips. Eating an excessive amount of corn can block the absorption of vitamin B, which can result in anemia, low energy levels, skin rashes, depression and short term memory loss.</p>
<p>Dont let this turn you off from popcorn though! Popcorn can be a great contribution to your diet, and a little salt and butter once in a while wont kill you either. Just remember, humans cant live on popcorn alone, and this is why the popcorn diet is yet another failed fad. It is also important to note that popcorn belongs in the top five foods that children choke on under the age of five, so refrain from giving your little one popcorn until heshe is older, and make sure you dont leave any popcorn laying around.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In your pursuit of a leaner body, you know doubt utilized a bathroom scale to chronicle your progress. However, you may have been doing yourself a grave disservice. As you know, a scale measures how much weight you have lost, but it will never tell you where this weight was lost from. This is where the problem lies. When dieting, your combined weight loss could potentially come from fat loss, water loss, or muscle loss. Obviously, the former is what we all want to achieve, and the latter two are what we need to try and avoid whenever dieting. Unfortunately, many of the fad diets claiming rapid weight loss are often achieving this at the expense of water loss andor muscle loss. Generally speaking, if you are losing greater than two pounds per week you are likely losing muscle as well.</p>
<p>The best way to monitor your progress when embarking on a new diet is to measure your body fat percentage and your lean body mass. Lean body mass is your weight excluding fat. Lean body mass includes bone, muscle, and other fat free tissues with the majority of this being muscle. By measuring these two items, you will be able to determine how much fat you are losing and whether or not you are losing any muscle. The simplest way to measure your body fat percentage is through skinfold testing. If you know a personal trainer or other fitness professional in your area, they will likely be able to take these measurements for you. However, self skinfold testing is available with the use of the Accu-Mesure, which can by found easily online.</p>
<p>Once you have determined your body fat percentage, you are ready to calculate your fat weight and lean body mass. To calculate your fat weight, multiply your total weight by your body fat percentage. Remember to convert your body fat percentage to decimal form before multiplying. I.e. 11 body fat would be converted to .11 Once you have calculated your pounds of fat, subtract your pounds of fat from your total weight in pounds, which will give you your lean body mass.</p>
<p>Armed with these simple equations, you will be able to track your weight loss much more accurately than by simply using a scale alone. You will know exactly where your weight loss is coming from, so you can quickly make adjustments to your caloric intake to maximize your results. For example, if your lean body mass decreases and your body fat decreases, this should tell you there is to much of a calorie deficit and you should increase your daily calorie intake slightly to prevent the loss in lean body mass. Whenever youre on a calorie restricted diet, some loss in lean body mass and therefore muscle is hard to avoid. However, this loss in lean body mass should be limited to a few tenths of a pound per week. Initially, when first starting a diet program, you will likely notice a larger drop in lean body mass due to water loss. Dont get alarmed by this. An obvious downward trend in your lean body mass over time is definitely a concern.</p>
<p>It is beyond the scope of this article to discuss proper nutrition and how to calculate daily caloric needs for weight loss; however, I will mention a simple formula that can be utilized to get you in the ballpark if you have average or better body fat percentages. To calculate your total daily calories needed for fat loss, multiply your total weight by 12-13. This will give you a good starting point. I will also mention that spreading your calories out over 5-6 meals per day with each meal consisting of approximately 55 complex carbohydrate, 30 lean protein, and 15 fat will give you the best chance of permanent fat loss. Obviously, these percentages may not work for everyone, but they are a great place to start. If you want to maintain your hard earned muscle, it is also imperative you maintain a weight lifting routine, while dieting.</p>
<p>I hope this information will help you achieve all your weight loss goals and help you understand exactly how your nutrition and diet program is affecting your body. There is certainly still a place for the bathroom scale, but unless youre also measuring the items above, you will never fully realize the affect of your diet program and reaching your full potential may be difficult. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have you ever berated yourself because you didnt exercise yet again today? Have you felt that creeping guilt in the back of your mind when you climb into bed knowing you didnt follow through on your workout plan?</p>
<p>Well, its possible that you are not at fault. You may just be acting like a normal human being. </p>
<p>Take a moment to imagine how it feels to be<br />
1 In a hot, sweaty gym full of people who are grunting through their routines, sweating all over the equipment, and strutting their bodies around in front of the mirrors.<br />
OR<br />
2 Rounding a curve in the trail with a light breeze gently caressing your skin in the soft evening air. </p>
<p>How about the difference between<br />
1 Running around an oval track gasping for air and feeling your lungs burning.<br />
OR<br />
2 Racing up and down a soccer field fully challenged by the game and having a blast with your friends.</p>
<p>Its not difficult to decide which choices would be more enjoyable to most people. Our culture has taught us to suffer as we exercise. No pain, no gain has been the mantra for years.</p>
<p>The only problem is that for most people, pain is not a daily choice were willing to make. The natural human tendency is to do things that are fun, things that feel good. Forcing ourselves to do miserable exercise routines goes directly against our own nature.</p>
<p>An easy way out of that trap is to play more. Find ways of moving the body that are wildly fun or rewarding to the soul. </p>
<p>Dance around your house. Take a nature walk. Fly a kite. Go to the park with the kids and play some tetherball.</p>
<p>Make the choice to move every day because its fun and feels great. Choose to move because it make you feel healthy and strong and vibrant. Youll find youre getting a lot more exercise without even thinking about it in that way.</p>
<p>Life is meant to be an enjoyable journey not an endless round of suffering. Choose to have more joy and youll feel the difference in your body and in your spirit.</p>

<p>1000 calorie diet </p>
<p>Trying the 1000 calorie diet is only advisable for one week, due to your body entering starvation mode and conserving fat. Overdoing the 1000 calorie diet is counterproductive to your body so try to stay on it for only 1 week. After 1 week you will loose between 3-5 pounds. The 1000 calorie diet can be used as a starter diet for a long term weight loss program. Try to aim for 2-3 pounds of weight loss and a good exercise program to begin with. After 1 week on the 1000 calorie diet, try upping your calorie intake or reverting back to a not so severe diet, this will prevent your bodys metabolism from slowing down. Here is a simple 1000 calorie daily menu. </p>
<p>Breakfast<br />
 Banana sandwich made with 2 slices of wholemeal bread and a small banana.<br />
 Small glass of orange juice </p>
<p>Snack<br />
 1 pot of low fat yoghurt preferably fruit </p>
<p>Lunch<br />
 1 wholemeal roll filled with tuna and low fat mayonnaise use tin tuna in spring water<br />
 Mixed lettuce salad, red or yellow sweet peppers, spring onions </p>
<p>Snack<br />
 1 bag of lower fat crisps </p>
<p>Dinner<br />
 Roast chicken breast without skin<br />
 Potatoes, mashed with 30ml semi-skimmed milk<br />
 Broccoli all vegetables steamed or boiled<br />
 Carrots<br />
 Gravy made from granules </p>
<p>Evening<br />
 1 low calorie hot chocolate drink made with powder and water </p>
<p>Drinks throughout the day<br />
 Diet coke, water, black coffee or tea without sugar </p>

 Minerals zinc, calcium, iron<br />
 Vitamin b12<br />
 Vitamin d </p>
<p>Protein sources include, tofu and other soy-based products, legumes, seeds, nuts, grains, and vegetables </p>
<p>Experts say that in order for a balanced vegetarian diet, you should eat nuts and whole grain cereals for good sources amino acids. </p>
<p>Greens such as spinach, kale and broccoli are a good source of calcium. </p>
<p>For sources of vitamin b12 which comes from animals, can be substituted with fortified breakfast cereals and fortified soy drinks. </p>
<p>Sources of iron are red meats, liver and egg yolks which are all high in cholesterol. Spinach, dried beans and dried fruits are all good vegetarian sources of iron. </p>
<p>A vegetarian diet is healthier than a meat diet. However this does not mean that you have the right to stuff your face with crisps, chocolate and chips everyday. <p>You can find a massive rage of diets on the internet free of charge! A vegetarian diet is an all round healthier option, and can go a long way to helping you on the road to losing weight. </p>
<p>Abs Diet </p>
<p>The Abs Diet works on the theory that every 1lb of muscle gained, your body intern burns an extra 50 calories per day. So if you can build an extra 10lb of muscle your body will then burn an extra 500 calories per day. Using the Abs Diet your body will burn more energy by eating the correct foods and exercising the correct way. Losing 500 calories per day will loose you 1lb of weight per week. Expect to loose up to 12lb in the first two weeks followed by 5-8lb in the forth coming two </p>
<p>The Abs Diet allows you to eat 6 meals per day which consist of 12 power foods, such as chicken, turkey and other lean meat, olive oil, beans and pulses, almonds, low fat dairy products, green vegetables, oats, eggs, wholegrain bread, whole grain cereals, berries, and protein powder. All other food is a not allowed. </p>
<p>For 6 weeks you will eat a series of 12 power foods, which provide the body with all the fibre and minerals you need to stay healthy and build muscle. Along with the diet you will do a 20 min workout three times per week, which will aid in the fat burning. </p>
<p>The Abs diet is mainly aimed at men, however women are encouraged to participate. The range of foods you can eat is still good and you do get an exercise program out of it. <p>The Kelloggs Cereal Diet </p>
<p>One of the simplest diets around at the moment is the Kelloggs Cereal Diet. It is not a crash weight loss diet which will loose you pounds upon pounds; however it will allow you to get into those jeans that are 1 size to small. </p>
<p>To start the Kelloggs Diet all you have to do is, eat one bowl of Kelloggs Special K or Cornflakes for breakfast, and also one for a replacement lunch or dinner. Thats all! Carry this on for two weeks then you will see the results. Expect to loose around 3-6lb. </p>
<p>Whist on your diet, Kelloggs allow you to have the same drinks and snacks as you usually would, but recommend that you eat a well balanced meal every day, with more fruit and vegetables. Another tip from Kelloggs, is to keep a food diary to monitor and keep you aware of your current eating habits.</p>

If there is one thing that all dietitians and obesity experts agree on, it is that personal motivation is the foundation of all weight loss success. No matter how healthy the diet-plan, or what combination of calories and nutrition it contains, it won&#8217;t help anyone lose weight unless they follow it for long enough. Their willingness to do so depends entirely on how motivated they are to change their eating and exercise habits in order to achieve their weight loss goals.</p>
<p>Motivation Advice Hard To Find<br />
The Internet offers a bewildering array of diets and weight loss eating plans, but advice on motivation when dieting is in extremely short supply. Given the strong link between diet-compliance and motivation, this lack of motivational help is surprising to say the least. It may stem from the fact that many diets are created by people who lack hands-on experience of helping people to manage their weight. Perhaps they see weight loss as a biological rather than a human process. If so, I think it&#8217;s a mistake.</p>
<p>Motivating Yourself To Lose Weight<br />
I tell all my clients that starting a weight loss diet is like starting a journey. And like any journey it requires preparation. We need to look ahead and plan how to overcome problems that occur along the way. By doing this we take control of the process and greatly increase our chances of success.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, many dieters don&#8217;t plan ahead. Instead, they take things as they come, and rely upon two things their initial enthusiasm, and when this wears off their willpower. But enthusiasm and willpower aren&#8217;t enough to overcome the temptations and difficulties which we face when we try to change our eating habits and lifestyle.</p>
<p>Stop for a moment and imagine taking your family on a camping trip. Do you rely on your enthusiasm and willpower for food and shelter? Of course not. In all probability you spend hours beforehand carefully packing and preparing for every eventuality, and the whole trip is carefully planned out in advance.</p>
<p>Yet when you start a diet-journey, many of you set off without any kind of planning or preparation. It&#8217;s as if you are convinced that everything will go smoothly. But let&#8217;s face it, what diet ever runs smoothly? Answer none! So what happens when we encounter a big problem? Answer we wobble, and often quit.</p>
<p>We Need To Plan New Thinking Habits<br />
Planning a diet-journey doesn&#8217;t involve packing equipment, it involves packing &#8220;new thoughts&#8221;. We need to rehearse and adopt new ways of thinking in order to overcome problems during our journey. This isn&#8217;t psycho-babble &#8211; this is plain common sense. After all, successful dieting is largely a matter of motivation and attitude. It&#8217;s about what goes on between our ears!</p>
<p>The Most Common Dieting Problem<br />
The most common problem we face when dieting is boredom. This typically occurs when our initial enthusiasm for losing weight wears off, and we become tired of watching what we eat. We become dispirited, and slightly depressed at the idea of having to maintain our &#8220;sensible eating habits&#8221; while everyone else seems to be having a good time.</p>
<p>Losing Direction Leads To Boredom<br />
We get bored when we lose our sense of direction. So to overcome it, we need to reestablish exactly where we are going. Remember, dieting is not an aimless process, it&#8217;s a journey from A to B. Here&#8217;s how we think when we lose direction</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m really bored with dieting, it&#8217;s such a pain. I don&#8217;t have any freedom any more. I can&#8217;t eat this, I can&#8217;t eat that&#8230; I&#8217;m fed up. I can&#8217;t share food with the girls at work, I can&#8217;t eat at my favorite restaurants,  I have to keep saying No to food when I visit friends, I have to watch my family eating in front of me, I don&#8217;t have time to exercise properly, I&#8217;m never going to lose weight and I&#8217;m feeling really miserable. Heck! Life is too short for this&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>This kind of thinking is totally demotivating. It focuses exclusively on the negative aspects of dieting and signals complete aimlessness. No weight loss goal is achievable when we think like this.</p>
<p>A Better Way of Thinking<br />
Now let me show you some better alternatives. Please compare them with the above example.</p>
<p>Example 1<br />
&#8220;Hmm, my diet isn&#8217;t going so good. But I&#8217;m not going to make excuses. I&#8217;ve wasted enough time making excuses to myself. From now on, no matter what happens, I&#8217;m going to be honest with myself. So what do I want? I want to lose weight and get myself into shape. Why? Because I really want that beach holiday or other very selfish goal which I promised myself. I want it so bad I can touch it! Okay, so I need to learn how to eat properly &#8211; big deal! I can easily do this if I put my mind to it. Heck! Eating good food isn&#8217;t difficult. What&#8217;s difficult is seeing myself being overweight for the rest of my life. I want something better. Something a lot better than a fistful of nachos or a dollop of fatty dessert.&#8221;</p>

&#8220;Hmm, my diet isn&#8217;t going so good. So let me remind myself why I&#8217;m dieting. All my life I&#8217;ve been eating to please other people. My mom said &#8220;eat this&#8221;, so I ate it. My school friends said &#8220;have some of this&#8221;, so I had lots. My work colleagues now say &#8220;have a slice of this&#8221;, so I have two! If you are just finishing your summer, now is the perfect time to do all those last minute pruning and weeding that was just too hot to do a few weeks ago. There&#8217;s nothing like gardening to help tone muscles and burn up additional calories.</p>
<p>Weekend Rambling &#8211; forget sleepy Sundays, get out and about on a walk with family and friends. Find an opening and play some lively games like football, frisbee or cricket!</p>
