			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Adequate sleep is essential to one&#8217;s overall health. The body needs sleep to rest both the mind and body and restore energy. Sleep is also the time where the body repairs itselfthrough sleep, the cells and tissues that has been damaged repairs it self. In addition to these health benefits, the body boosts and builds up the immune system through sleep. The immune system may experience breakdown and result to different ailments that would require medication and extended recovery times. Medical studies show that sleep seems to help recharge the immune system. However, there are many factors that may hinder individuals to have adequate sleep and therefore further hamper health developments. Disruptions on one&#8217;s circadian rhythm is one factor that may hinder quality of sleep. 	</p>
<p>Circadian Rhythm Disorders CRD are disruptions in a person&#8217;s circadian rhythma name given to the human body&#8217;s internal body clock. This body clock regulates the 24-hour cycle of biological processes in animals and plants. The circadian clock in humans is located in the brain and are significant in determining one&#8217;s sleeping patterns. Disruptions of the circadian rhythm may result in getting poor and insufficient sleep. One disruption in natural sleep conditions is night work or non-standard shifts. Working in the evening require a delay in the body&#8217;s sleeping time of as much as three to 12 hours. Because the human body is programmed to sleep at night, changing one&#8217;s sleeping time will not automatically produce a change in body temperature or other functions needed like body coordination and immune responses. </p>
<p>Another factor that may disrupt sleep and hamper one&#8217;s sleeping patterns is a condition called jet lag. It a condition that is marked by fatigue, insomnia, and irritability that is caused by changing time zones when traveling by air. When travelers pass from one time zone to another, they may suffer from disrupted circadian rhythms. This may cause the traveler&#8217;s circadian clock to be mixed up with a new external environment. People who experience jet lag may have difficulties in maintaining their regular sleep-awake pattern in their new location. This happens because external stimuli like sunlight and location programs and dictates a new pattern.   </p>
<p>Although generally linked to sleep pattern of human beings, the circadian rhythm also has a direct influence on one&#8217;s blood pressure, and the body&#8217;s production of hormones and neurotransmitters. It works together with these internal factors to tell the body of several things like sleeping time and wake up time. These factors is warning that such disruptions in one&#8217;s circadian rhythms should never be taken for granted.</p>

Therapies are usually combined with sleep hygiene techniques to promote proper sleep from CRD. Chronotherapy and bright light therapy are two methods that are used to treat this disorder. Chronotherapy is a behavioral technique where one&#8217;s bedtime is gradually and systematically adjusted until a specific bedtime is achieved. Bright light therapy on the other hand is designed to reset an individual&#8217;s circadian rhythm to a desired pattern. When properly utilized, these therapies may produce essential results in eliminating CRD and improve one&#8217;s quality of sleep.</p>

<p>What is Adrenal Fatigue?</p>
<p>The adrenal glands are your body&#8217;s workhorses when it comes to dealing with stress. These tiny glands, each about the size of a walnut and shaped like a tiny pyramid, sit atop each kidney. The adrenals produce important hormones such as cortisol, an energy releaser, and pregnenolone, the precursor from which almost all your body&#8217;s steroid hormones are made, including DHEA, progesterone, testosterone, and estrogens. These oils are not to be taken internally, but are best diluted in a carrier oil and applied to the skin.</p>
<p>Spruce and Black Spruce Needle Oils &#8211; Spruce is thought to restore depleted adrenal glands, and is used regularly by aromatherapists in blends applied directly over the adrenal area, or in an all-over body lotion.</p>
<p>Pine Needle Oil  Pine essential oil is noted to be one of the &#8220;most effective oils for fatigue and nervous debility&#8221;. Pine can be blended with Spruce for a synergistic revitalizing effect.</p>
<p>Atlas Cedar Oil  Moroccan Cedar is thought to gently and persistently stimulate the metabolism. Rather than regenerating, as do the Spruce and Pine oils, Cedar will provide a smooth, deep, and long lasting stimulation without the side effects of coffee and black tea.</p>
<p>Peppermint Oil  Peppermint has a broad range of healthful properties, and is thought of as an uplifting aroma. Peppermint, like Cedar, can be used for gentle stimulation and alertness.</p>
<p>Citrus Oils  Essential oils pressed from the rinds of citrus fruit like sweet orange, bitter orange bergamot, lemon and lime are also uplifting and brightening, yet have a relaxing quality as well. They are useful additions to fatigue-busting blends, as the added calming, but not sedating, quality can lower stress levels, which are generally the cause of adrenal fatigue in the first place.</p>
<p>Aromatherapy Blends for Adrenal Fatigue</p>
<p>First, a blend to provide pure regenerative support without stimulation. This blend is suitable for regular use, and some users report almost immediate results  it has been noted to reduce or eliminate that nauseous feeling that can accompany insomnia. FOR A ONE OUNCE BLEND  add 1.5ml Spruce or Black Spruce and 1.5ml Pine Needle essential oils to one ounce 30ml of your favorite carrier oil Hazelnut is commonly used, but any common aromatherapy carrier oil should do the trick. Apply regularly to the kidney  adrenal area. Note 1ml is about 25 drops.</p>
<p>To use these oils in a gently stimulating, all-over body blend, add 3ml each of Spruce and Pine essential oils, 2ml Atlas Cedar oil and 2ml of your favorite citrus oil to 4oz of carrier oil. Apply this all over after a morning shower  though if using the citrus oil, do not apply to areas that will be exposed to the sun in the following 72 hours, as citrus oils are photosensitizing.</p>
<p>If you prefer the properties and aroma of peppermint, try the following blend 6ml of Spruce or Black Spruce, 2.5ml Atlas Cedar and 1.5ml Peppermint in 4 ounces of your favorite carrier. This blend will not be photosensitizing to the skin, and can be used all over the body.</p>
<p>Conclusion</p>
<p>These wonderful smelling aromatherapy blends can offer support in cases of mild and moderate adrenal fatigue for many people, though the underlying causes of this condition should be addressed concurrently for best results. For most folks, this means reducing caffeine intake, improving diet by reducing sugar consumption, and finding balance in one&#8217;s life between work, family, and personal time.</p>

<p>As the mix of hormones in your blood changes during your premenopausal years, you may notice the effects on your gastrointestinal tract both directly &#8211; estrogen is a gastrointestinal stimulant and varying levels may swing you from loose stools to dry ones &#8211; and indirectly, as the hormonal load places ever heavier demands on the liver.</p>
<p>Hormones have a strong effect on the motility of the intestinal tract. When your levels of estrogen and progesterone change as they do throughout menopause, during pregnancy, and before menstruation and birth, your bowel patterns change, too.</p>
<p>Your liver is, among other things, a recycling center. It breaks down hormones circulating in the blood when they are no longer needed and makes their &#8220;parts&#8221; available for the production of more hormones. During the menopausal years some hormones such as LH and FSH are produced in such enormous quantities that your liver may struggle to keep up with its recycling work, and have little energy left over for digestive duties. Help yourself with these Wise Woman Ways.</p>
<p>Step 2	Engage the Energy</p>
<p>	Bless your food out loud before you eat; say grace; thank the plants and animals who nourish you; breathe in and feel grateful.</p>
<p>	My mother&#8217;s favorite way of preventing digestive distress and ensuring regularity is to eat at regular times and go to the toilet at regular times. You&#8217;d be surprised how effective this is.</p>
<p>First thing in the morning, get yourself a cup of hot water or herbal tea and bring it back to bed. Sip it slowly, and gnaw gently on your bottom lip. Then lie on your back and bring your knees up, feet flat on the bed; place your palms on your belly and breathe deeply. Gently begin to rub your belly in spirals up on the right, across the middle, and down on the left. Soon you will feel the movement gathering momentum. Sit up slowly and head for the toilet.</p>
<p>Step 3 	Nourish &#038; Tonify </p>
<p>	Yellow dock root vinegar or tincture is a wonderful ally for menopausal women with digestive distress. Daily doses of 1 teaspoon5 ml vinegar or 5-10 drops of tincture eliminate constipation, indigestion, and gas. Yellow dock is especially recommended for the woman whose menopausal menses are getting heavier.</p>
<p>	Dandelion is everyone&#8217;s favorite ally for a happy digestive system and a strong liver. It relieves indigestion, constipation, gas, even gallstone pain. How to use it? Have a glass of dandelion blossom wine. Eat the omega-3-rich leaves in salads. Enjoy the phytoestrogenic roots as a vinegar or tincture a dose is 1-2 teaspoons5-10 ml vinegar or 10-20 drops tincture taken with meals or as a coffee substitute. </p>
<p>	Any rhythmical exercise, especially walking, relieves digestive gas and improves intestinal peristalsis the movement of feces. Oriental wisdom says the liver loves movement.</p>
<p>	Motherwort, fenugreek, vitex, or black cohosh tinctures, taken daily, strengthen digestion and ease menopausal digestive woes. Or try a cup of garden sage tea.</p>
<p>	If constipation occurs due to a lessening of the moistening, lubricating cells in the colon, slippery foods such as slippery elm bark powder, oats, seaweed, flax seed, and seeds from wild Plantago or cultivated psyllium are wonderful allies. Adding a teaspoon5 ml of any, or better yet, all of them to a cup250 ml of rolled oats and cooking until thick in 3 cups750 ml of water is a delicious way to prepare this remedy.</p>
<p>	My favorite remedy to relieve digestive and gas pain is plain yogurt. Sometimes even a tiny mouthful will bring instant relief. Acidophilus capsules work, too. I use both when dealing with chronic constipation or severe diarrhea. </p>
<p>Step 4	StimulateSedate</p>
<p>	White flour products slow the digestive tract; so does too much grain-fed meat. Whole grain products, well-cooked beans, wild meats, and cooked greens speed it up.</p>
<p>	Add more liquids and soft foods to your diet &#8211; applesauce, yogurt, nourishing soups, herbal infusions &#8211; to help relieve constipation. Chew your food slowly and savor it. Drink lavishly between meals.</p>
<p>	Menopausal women will want to avoid the use of bran as a laxative, as it interferes with calcium absorption. Instead try prunes, prune juice, rhubarb with maple syrup, or figs.</p>
<p>	Ginger tea with honey is a warming, easing drink when your tummy is upset. Ahhh. Try the fresh root grated and steeped in boiling water, or put a tablespoon of the powdered stuff from your spice cupboard in a cup of hot water and enjoy.</p>
<p>	Crushed hemp seed Cannabis sativa tea &#8211; rich in essential fatty acids &#8211; is a specific against menopausal constipation. </p>
<p>	Herbal laxatives such as aloes, cascara sagrada, rhubarb root, and senna are addictive and destructive to normal peristalsis. Except in rare cases such as relief of constipation for a ninety-year-old woman confined to a bed, I do not advise their use. </p>
<p>Step 5a	Use Supplements</p>
<p>Constipation and digestive distress are common side effects from taking iron supplements. A spoonful of molasses with 10-25 drops of yellow dock root tincture in a glass of warm water is a better way to increase iron, and improve elimination.</p>
<p>Step 6	 Break &#038; Enter</p>
<p>Enemas and colonics are last-resort techniques. They do not promote health and may strip the guts of important flora. Regular use of enemas is highly habit-forming. For the sake of your health, avoid them.</p>

If one goes through this condition for a long time, it may begin to feel like this has become a normal situation for you and you become used to it. <p>If you are feeling sluggish then it is a warning sign that something is not right and an immediate investigation as to the cause is in order. There can be many different reasons for this condition. </p>
<p>Here are some of the causes of sluggishness</p>
<p>1 Diet is of great importance. With all the pesticides and chemicals in our food today and nutrient deficient soil, it can be difficult to get the nutrients we need to live a healthy life. It is possible to regain good health by changing your diet to eating organic foods that include eating more raw fruits and vegetables and less cooked food and sugar products. You may want to consider good supplements to obtain nutrients you might not otherwise get. You may argue that organic food is so expensive, but consider this; you may save a few bucks on cheaper packaged food that may be loaded with preservatives, nitrates etc., but what is your health worth? How long do you expect your body to function correctly if you put degraded fuel into it? Youve seen what it can do to a car. It is also so with your body. If you take a close look at healthy looking celebrities that are trim and fit, they have a secret you dont. Being that their income is dependent on their personality and good looks they are forced to forgo the usual diets of the average American. They work out, eat smaller portions and include a lot more raw foods, plus they drink a lot of water and this brings up the next subject.</p>
<p>2 Dehydration! About 80 of Americans are semi dehydrated and dont even know it. Without this precious liquid, our bodies which are 23rds water cannot function right. Dehydration alone can make you sluggish. If you are dehydrated, that means that the water level in your body is below normal for proper function. The handling for this is to increase your fluid intake. The best is just pure water, about 8 cups per day. If drinking that much water seems too difficult you can up your water intake with green or herbal teas. These teas have a beneficial effect in that as well as increased water in-take, they also provide anti-oxidents which help your immune system. So drink up and feel better.</p>
<p>3 Through poor diet, lack of exercise, viruses, bacteria and parasites, digestive problems can occur. Here we have a whole host of problems to deal with. If your body is toxic then your liver and kidneys may be on overload. You can handle a lot of this with a liver and kidney cleanse. </p>
<p>Parasites are generally not talked about but may be a bigger problem then previously realized. Parasites can reside in any major organ of the body and cause more problems than just sluggishness. Handle parasite infestation first, possibly using a herbal solution found at your local health food store, followed by a kidney cleanse, and then a liver and colon cleanse. This is a course recommended by Dr Hulda Clark. There are many different cleanses you can do and to find the one that is right for you, go online and type in liver or kidney cleanse and carefully check out what is right for you.</p>
<p>4 Other ways to detoxify are fasting and enemas. Fasting is a centuries old natural healing technique that works very well when done properly. Coffee or lemon enemas are great for cleaning out the colon from old and impacted feces. Certain herbs can also be helpful in cleansing the colon such as cascara sagrada in moderation, aloe vera, flaxseed and red raspberry. Get plenty of fiber with lots of water. This helps to keep you regular. An over toxic colon can eventually put impurities into the bloodstream and this will definitely make you feel sluggish.</p>
<p>5 There has been a lot of controversy over the years about too much mercury in your teeth. A dentist once told me that if you look inside your mouth, the fillings that you have may look smooth on the outside but if you could look on the underside of the filling it is quite a different story. It looks very jagged and the metals may be leaking into your system. Mercury in the system is the most toxic non-radioactive metal in the body and about half of the silver fillings are mercury. A variety of heath problems can occur such as brain, kidney and lung damage and has even been linked to autism. You can be tested for metal toxicity through hair and urine analysis. If you test positive, you may want to consider having them removed and replaced with gold fillings. Even after replacement though it can take the body months to excrete these toxins. Do your research and find a dentist with an excellent reputation who has done replacement fillings. For an interesting tidbit, a friend told me his mother had suffered headaches for 20 years and after having all the fillings replaced, she no longer had headaches. </p>
<p>6 A relatively new technology has come out for detoxing the body and that is with an ionic footbath. You place your feet into a tub of warm water with a bit of sea salt in it. The ionic footbaths work by sending a small current that goes in a circuit through the body and generates positively charged ions. The high concentration of the ion field attaches to the negatively charged toxins neutralizing them and the body is then able to discard them through the approximate 2000 pores that are on the bottom of your feet. You can then experience the correct acid-alkaline ph balance as nature intended. Its painless and takes about 30 minutes. The water will change color according to the toxicity of the body and also by how hard or soft the water is where ever you are geographically. Black or brown water is the liver detoxing, Orange; the joints, Dark green; the gallbladder, Yellowy green; kidneys, urinary tract, White foam; Lymph nodes draining Red flecks; blood clot material, Black flecks; heavy metals. Independent studies have been done that show the levels of mucus, heavy metals and fat in the water after 30 minutes.</p>
<p>As you can see there are many things you can do to help take away that sluggish and fatigued feeling. But as always, consult your health care practitioner before doing any detoxification program.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Physical training is something that is integral to success in a vast majority of sports. Being at the ideal physical condition for a particular sport, or at least as close to it as possible, is something that athletes in a competitive environment want to be in. They can go to extreme levels, enduring the most insane training exercises and diet regimen just to hit that peak. However, there are times when the training goes beyond what can be considered healthy, even causing some damage to the internal workings of the body. Muscle spasms, lower back pain, fatigue, and knee pain are just a few of the many possible injuries one can get when the body is forced to work beyond its normal capacity.</p>
<p>The muscles are generally the first parts of the body that are damaged when people take their training way too seriously, with muscle spasms and excessive muscle tension being the initial symptoms. The use of muscle relaxants may sometimes be prescribed to combat these problems, though others may prefer to take an over-the-counter pain killer to just dull the pain. However, ignoring or misdiagnosing these muscle pains can result in aggravated problems. Muscle tissue can be torn and tendons as well as  ligaments can be injured. No matter how toned and how strong you make your muscles by training them, there are limits to how much they can endure. The more strenuous a particular exercise or physical activity is &#8212; the greater the risk for injuries. When your quads get strained or you can&#8217;t flex your arms without screaming in pain, simple muscle spasms are going to be the least of your problems.</p>
<p>Fatigue is also a major concern. The state of fatigue can make additional training difficult and, much worse, it can even take a toll on one&#8217;s personal life. The natural response to the onset of fatigue is to find a comfortable place to just sit back and rest. However, there are times when taking a rest isn&#8217;t an option.      A person might have an important appointment to attend to that would force him to stay awake for an extended period, aggravating the already weary state of his body. The consequences of this can also extend to the person&#8217;s mental state, with slower reactions times and incoherent thought processes being not that uncommon.</p>
<p>For other sports, more overt injuries like knee pain and torn muscles are real risks that make physical training a carefully navigated exercise. Any activity that involves lifting weights that exert a large amount of pressure on the muscles can result in injury. Too much weightlifting, for example, has sometimes been known to cause lower back pain. As the weight is lifted upwards by the arms, gravity is pulling the weight down and most of the pressure concentrates on the lifter&#8217;s lower back, with injury being a definite possibility if the weight is suspended for too long.</p>
<p>The easiest way to avoid the above problems is to have a training program designed specifically for your build, with the stress and weights calculated so that they challenge the muscles, but not overexert them.  Feeling a little pain when in training is understandable at the start, but if the pain is chronic, it is best that you seek the advice of a medical professional. Don&#8217;t wait until you develop a tolerance for pain killers and muscle relaxants to have your body examined for possible injuries or problems.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hair is often referred to as a woman&#8217;s crowning glory. Aside from a woman&#8217;s face, her hair is the most visible part of her body.  No wonder, most women make such a big fuss over their hair.  While going completely bald is already socially accepted even among women, there was once a time when women had to grow long hair.  Almost like their very own pet,  women take care of their hair with great care.  They spend enormous amounts of money and time just to retain the smoothness and shine of their hair, which can be straight, wavy, long, or short.</p>
<p>As part of the hair care regimen, most women place considerable attention to choosing their shampoo and conditioner.  There are now different shampoo formulas and conditioners for all hair types. There are products that were specifically prepared for oily hair, dry hair, damaged hair, and normal hair. There are also anti-dandruff shampoos, baby shampoos, and a host of other hair products that are used to   moisturize, smoothen, and strengthen hair.</p>
<p>Surely, there is more to hair that just the shiny images that we see in t.v. commercials.  Hair is defined as  a filamentous outgrowth of protein. The hair follicles grow out from the epidermis but the roots are planted deep in the dermis.  Hair comes in different colors, contour, and diameter.  </p>
<p>In society, hair is very important because it somehow denotes a person&#8217;s health, age, virility, and social status.  Throughout the ages, it has played an important role in the lives of people &#8212; from the lowly peasant, to the middle class, to the men and women of royalty.  During the pre-modern era, each social class had its own particular hairstyle. One&#8217;s hairstyle can lead to rejection or acceptance in certain groups or social classes. It can enhance a person&#8217;s appearance, self-confidence, and even contribute to career advancement.</p>
<p>Given the weight of importance on hair, many people have developed a fear of losing hair.  Unfortunately, losing hair is but a natural human process much like the falling of tree leaves. Hair loss that involves the shedding of at least 100 strands a day may be considered a serious hair problem. Losing about 50 hair strands a day, however, is quite normal.  Thinning of hair may lead a patch or bald spot on the scalp. Normal hair grows in cycles and consists of three stages growing, resting, and falling.  </p>
<p>Hair loss, as a physical problem, has three general types, as indicated below,</p>
<p>l	Alopecia Areata  This refers to a loss of hair that results in a patch or bald spot. </p>
<p>l	Androgenetic Alopecia  It is the most common cause of hair loss in both men and women. It is caused by a combination of four factors age, testosterone, hormone levels, and heredity.</p>
<p>l	Chronic Illness  Iron deficiencies, thyroid diseases, connective tissue disease, and syphilis may cause hair loss.</p>
<p>l	Telogen Effluvium  This type of hair loss is caused by high fever,  crash dieting, acute illness including physical and emotional stress.</p>
<p>l	Scalp Diseases  Fungal and bacterial infections also cause hair loss.</p>
<p>l	Drugs  Certain anti-cancer and anti-coagulant drugs can also cause hair loss.</p>
<p>l	Excessive hairstyling  Hairstyling like the pony tail or braiding can stretch the hair and pull them out from the follicles.</p>
<p>Loss of hair should not be seen as simply an aesthetic issue.  It could be the sign of a more serious illness.   It is wise to consult a doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms</p>
<p>l	You are already losing hair rapidly even if you are only in your early twenties or in your teenage years.</p>
<p>l	You are experiencing pain or intense itching.</p>
<p>l	The skin on your scalp appears to be red or scaly.</p>
<p>l	You are experiencing weight gain, fatigue, and intolerance for cold temperature.</p>
<p>The good news is that there are several hair loss treatments available in the market.  The key is to try to control your stress and anxiety over your hair loss.  With the variety of hair loss treatments and hair care products, no one should feel down about losing the crowning glory.</p>
